Final Reflection

Hope you have an amazing winter break. Happy Holidays.

Overall this semester I have found this class to be time consuming yet useful. All of the things that we did this semester will help me to stay connected to my future students and parents. The newsletters and the website specifically have made me feel more comfortable with using technology. I thought that I was pretty good with technology, until I got the assignments from this class and realized that I had a bit more to learn.

The crazy thing about technology is that it is forever changing and growing. Hopefully I will be able to keep up. The website was extremely hard, but I am glad that we had to make it. I think that making that one website will help me in the future because 1) I could possibly use the one I created by tweaking it some and 2) I now know how to create a website from nothing. I can make one for each of my classes if I really wanted to in the future.

Making this website has also helped because my mom is trying to start her photography future, and I can now show her how to make a website for her future business goals.

Reflection Technology Integration

So this response is a tad late, but I had a very eventful Thanksgiving and I honestly forgot about doing the reflections. On Thanksgiving morning my boyfriend of four years proposed to me with pancakes that spelled out "I <3 You, Will you marry me" a rose, and a ring. So we spent the entire weekend telling our families. Although, we are still waiting awhile to set the date.

Anyways, back to technology.

Technology integration can be very useful in middle school. I for one used it a lot in middle school, making power points, writing papers, researching, and finding pictures for collogues. I also took my first computer class in Middle School. I learned to type in that class and I learned how to make PowerPoint’s and basic spread sheets. Also, that teacher is still one of my favorite teachers!

I found that technology has started to become more and more widespread. It used to be that schools would not have requirements for technology to be integrated into the curriculum, but now there are curriculums set on technology. Technology surrounds schools. Teachers rarely do grade books by hand anymore, they are all on computers. Also, students are made to research more and more in the internet rather than in books. I for a fact know that I only had to have one written source for a paper that I wrote, and 6 Internet sources...that says something about how technology has changed.

So honestly I have only heard of three of these: Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace...

I have never used or heard of any of the other sites.

Facebook has changed the entire world, I personally can talk to family that is all over the country. I have friends and family in California that I have the ability to talk to whenever I want to. All I have to do is FB them and we can talk.

On FB it is also easy for me to share information that I have learned of found on the Internet. Almost every sit that you visit has a FB link that lets you post things quick and easily.

Twitter is a site that I personally do not use...It is too complicated for me to get...I have friends though who use Twitter and they have told me about a thing that you can connect with people all over the world with... apparently if you put a number sign (#) and words or something after it then you can connect to anyone else who has posted the same thing. For example, if I posted #HarryPotter on my Twitter then I could see anyone elses twitter that says the same thing. Also, I am watching Psych right now, and at the bottom of the screen it says "#psych" which is very cool. I think this shows how big these sites have become.

These sites help the world connect in ways that are imaginable...

Reflection 3

1. Reflect on your experience developing your multimedia  project in Assignment 6. What new did you learn during this activity?

                   The multimedia assignment was pretty fun. I chose a topic that I can actually use in the future when I teach my science courses. I have had a lot of experience through school with Power Point and I enjoy it. I would rather do a PowerPoint then write a paper any day. I am so happy that I got the experience I did when I was younger with technology because it has made College much easier on my. The new thing that I learned with this project is hyperlinking. I did not know how to do that completely. I also learned that on sound clips you can change the image of the speaker to anything you want too...I changed mine to a picture that I took of a bird.

      2.Talk briefly about how you would integrate multimedia into a lesson plan? 
         Share an activity or project (involving multimedia) that you think will engage and challenge  students.

I would use some multimedia videos as instructional tools. I could also have students create their own multimedia videos and "teach" the class what they learned. I good example of this kind of project is having the students choose some sort of living thing: animal, plant, bacteria, etc. and have them create a PowerPoint with certain information on their organism. Have a criteria list for the students to follow that they will be graded on, I would also make sure to tell them that creativity pays of..and that they would get points for creativity within the Power Point.

Reflection 2

I hope that everyone is having a great week, TGIF!

Assignment 4 was very time consuming but informative. I like that I now know how to do those things on Excel. The videos that we were suppose to watch were VERY helpful, I had no idea how easy it was to insert formulas. I have usually just used Excel for charts and tables for information, I have never really used them with formulas. I had fun doing this assignment.

All  of my student names are people in my family, which I though was fun. I also think that it is important for everyone to know the basics, that is why I am so happy that you gave us the links for the videos. They helped so much, I sent the links to my mother because the is NOT computer savvy and those were slow enough that I think she will be able to keep up.

There are many ways to integrate technology in the classroom. Some activities that you can do to use technology are typing using MS Word, making charts using MS Excel, and and MS Power Point is extremely useful. Each of these things are fun to use with the class. Power Point is good because you can use it as a teaching tool and you can also get the students to make Power Points to present to the class to make it more interesting.

My Blogging experience..

So to be honest this went pretty smoothly. I enjoy telling my opinion and I always have. Since I already had a blog this process was pretty easy for me, but it was still a little tricky because the site has updated since my last post.

I hope that everyone enjoys my posts, although I have a lot of opinion and since we are a controversial species you might not always agree with my opinion. I don't mind a good clean debate, I also don't mind others opinions I value them...I love to find out information about topics from others points of view. Also, something you might need to know about me is that I will pick the opposite side of my opinion and battle for it...I think that it important to understand and educate yourself of both sides of an argument...plus it is kind of fun to see responses...especially to controversial topics. Hope we have a great time.

This isn't my first time...

So I have had a blog for about a year or so now, I created this new blog because my other one was a bit...lets say..informative and explicit. I figured that it would be inappropriate for some of my posts to be used under an education BLOG, So here we go again. My name is Allison, I am 21 years old. I love myself, my family, my boyfriend, my friends, and my animals. Some of you might think that saying I love myself is conceded but I think its called being smart. If you love yourself you can never say no one loves you...also if you have faith in yourself, you can never say that no one believes in you. So my motto is "Always believe in yourself and Always Love yourself, above all other things ".

Take life one day at a time, don't have regrets because they are simply a lesson in disguise and never give up on something that you want, because there is a way to get everything we want in this world, somethings might require working harder or going a different direction to get, but we can always get what we want if we never give up on it.

 Also, some people might find my blog informative and some might find it completely and utterly ridiculous, but that the beauty of a blog, they are opinions and facts that YOU choose to post. Not everyone will like your posts but they do not have to like them, because they are YOUR choices.

You will also find out that Quotes are very important to me, I love looking up quotes because words are so powerful...It is important for us to know about the past, so some of my favorites are from older souls whom  I ador...So I might use quotes as a beginning or ending to my posts..
